Random Thoughts on Various Subjects 61

A drunk was in front of a judge. The judge says "You've been brought here for drinking." The drunk says "Okay, let's get started."

I have to apologize for being on an extended hiatus from the the RTOVS and the C-Blog. I've been trapped in the social media vortex for a bit and also working on some side projects. I am now back to the main gig.

I am ready for Trump to resign or be impeached. Trump made one awesome move at the start. This was picking Mike Pence to be his running mate and Vice President. If Pence became President, I would be a very happy man. Pence is a true conservative and a thoroughly decent man. Trump is neither of these things. I voted for the guy only because he wasn't Hillary Clinton.

I was very satisfied with Trump's first year in office. Those tax cuts were awesome. Trump governed like a true conservative. In his second year, Trump is governing like Mitt Romney. What is up with Trump? How could he sell out the base like this? How could he be so faithless? The answer to that is simple. He is faithless!

Trump is an adulterer. We knew this going in because he cheated on Ivana to get with Marla Maples so long ago. Now, there are allegations that he has cheated on Melania with pornobabes. Do I believe these allegations? Yes, I do. It is clear money was paid to one Miss Stormy Daniels to keep her mouth closed. She doesn't need to open her mouth for me to know the story.

Why does adultery matter? It matters because if a man can't be faithful to God and his wife then he certainly won't be faithful to the voters who elected him to do a job. And this is exactly what we are getting from Mr. Donald J. Trump. This year, Trump signed a ridiculous budget unchallenged, offered to spit in the face of the NRA and trash the Second Amendment, and signed an omnibus spending bill that has Chuck Schumer grinning from ear-to-ear. Obviously, the MAGA crowd has become boring for Trump, so he has decided to get some strange from the liberals and the Democrats. The man is a political whore. Who knew?

But never fear, Gentle Readers and deplorables. The man we all despise may turn out to be our savior. This would be Robert Mueller. Now, don't get me wrong. The man is a slime eel from the depths of the DC swamp. But he is going to put an end to Trump's presidency and put Mr. Pence in the Oval Office. And Trump is going to help him! Donald Trump believes he has the GIFT OF GAB. It's a New York thing. Somehow, this gift of gab will make Mueller disappear. Trump will sweet talk Bob like he sweet talks Melania into not divorcing him. But the trick will be on him as he talks his way into a process crime and possible impeachment. As for the bimbo eruptions now happening, that will also provide some kind of material that Mueller can sort through just like Ken Starr jumped on that Monica Lewinsky stuff.

I am not a #NeverTrumper. I voted for the guy, and I support the guy when he does conservative things. But Trump is a faithless whore to people like me that voted for him. I'm ready for the divorce. Mueller is going to serve the papers.

We are at the point in this pontificate where people are actually questioning whether Francis really is the pope. This is because faithful and traditional Catholics really want him to be an antipope. Is Francis an antipope? That question is deserving of its own blog post.

What we do not need to question is the character of this papacy. Francis may or may not be the legitimate pope, but he is certainly a bad pope. Even those faithful inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt are no longer reticent about the man. The most notable of these faithful would be EWTN's Raymond Arroyo who regularly features Francis critics on The World Over. These are not wild eyed sedevacantists or Catholic cuckoos. These are solid sons and daughters of the Church.

This papacy is a calamity, and the faithful are actively praying for its end. My personal opinion is that Francis is God's chastisement on the Roman Catholic Church. God punishes people by giving them bad leaders or allowing the yoke of some foreign oppressor. I think the Protestant Reformation was a similar calamity to what we are experiencing now.

We have all heard the line about the gods making proud those they would destroy. I think this is the way God works. It is no secret that the Vatican and the wider church is overrun by sodomites and perverts. With Francis, this filth has floated to the top of the septic tank. These evil priests and prelates are emboldened now in a way that could never happen under JP2 or B16. These bastards have their guy on the Chair of Peter, and it is their time to glory in their depravity. When they fall, no one will say it was undeserved.

Guns are good. If you doubt this, put a knife wielding Muslim rapist in front of a young 90 lb. blue eyed blonde woman. We know how this ends. Now, put a gun in the hand of that blonde. That changes everything.

Guns are equalizers. They change the equations of violent encounters. This is why guns are good. Yet, we now have idiots led by high schoolers claiming that things would be better if our blonde didn't have her handgun. Somehow, being defenseless is a good defense.

So, we have a high school in Florida that gets shot up by a kid with an AR-15 who should have been shot immediately as soon as he appeared on campus decked out in full battle gear. We have a high school in Maryland where a brave school resource officer ended a similar tragedy before it barely began by gunning down another wannabe mass shooter. Obviously, schools need protection from bad guys with guns by having good guys with guns. It would be nice to live in a world where such threats do not exist, but that world does not exist and never will exist. There is no peace or safety in weakness.

The most unwitting dupes in this tragedy turned farce are the students of Parkland led by the Marxist revolutionary wannabe David Hogg. Seeing a teenage lesbian shred the Constitution is all you need to know about these idiot kids. The reality is that Hogg and Co. are opportunists not letting a crisis go to waste and trying to extend their fifteen minutes of fame to sixteen. Ahhh, to be so young and stupid but media savvy! I wonder if Hogg has a manager and an agent yet.

Marxists want to disarm patriots. That is the agenda. Once disarmed, patriots are easier to kill. But we know better. When they come for your guns, they will be coming for you next. Don't ever give up your guns. You will be giving up your life and your freedom tomorrow.

I bought this knife after reading this article on the Popular Mechanics website. Before this, I was a Gerber man. I have two Gerber paraframes. One is a standard size bought from Lowe's for twenty bucks. The other is a pen knife given as a birthday gift some years ago. Neither one will hold an edge.

The Opinel was fifteen bucks. That was money well spent. This is a no frills knife, and it will not earn you brownie points with the tactical knife crowd. But, man, it is wicked sharp and holds an edge. It is definitely the best pocket knife I have ever owned. Do I recommend it? Absolutely.

Opinel offers a variety of knives, and I don't know if the stainless steel blades have a similar level of sharpness. I suspect they don't. But this is one knife I love, and I have already given one away as a gift.

6. CASIO F-91W

This watch has its own page on Wikipedia. Not bad for a piece of plastic selling for $10 to $15. I got mine from Walmart from the cheap watch shelf and not from the locked display case where they keep the Timexes and G-Shock watches. The price of this lauded watch is what attracted me to it.

I have been wearing Timex Ironman watches for decades. I bought my first one back in college. If I remember correctly, it was the first digital watch I ever owned. I was hooked and stuck with the Ironmans until this year when my watch finally broke its band. It was pretty beat up, so I let it slide into the trash. I like the Ironman watch, but I don't like the price. I think I paid $35 for the Ironman I had, and it lasted about five years. The watch is durable and functional, and I love the Indiglo feature. The batteries last a long time, too. But you can expect to pay between 35 to 50 bucks for one of these things. This led me to explore whether I could get a watch that was as good but for way cheaper. This is how I discovered the F-91W.

The F-91W is a ridiculously cheap watch. I can say that you won't find a better watch at this price. It is simple to use, and the battery is supposed to last 7 years or longer. The reality is that the watch band will be gone long before then. I'll have more on that in a minute. The light on it is also poor, and you will find yourself squinting hard to read the numbers in the dark. Being used to the Timex, I keep hitting the Indiglo button on the Casio except there is no button in that spot. Casio makes a similar watch to this one with their Illuminator technology, and I might upgrade to that one for a couple more dollars.

Now, the watchband issue! The F-91W does not have a robust watchband. The Timex Ironman does have a robust watchband. So, the issue comes down to math. My Ironman lasted five years with its resin strap. I paid $35 for it which comes out to $7 a year. I give the F-91W a year before its resin strap pops. I paid $15 for the thing at Walmart, but I could get it for $10 on Amazon. Basically, the F-91W will cost me $50 over the same period as that Ironman. Now, I could get a robust nylon NATO strap to put on my cheap watch, but that would be another $15 which would make the F-91W about as expensive as an Ironman. As much as I hate to admit it, the Casio F-91W is not a moneysaver relative to the Timex Ironman. It all comes down to how long the band will last.

I could buy an Illuminator and put it on a quality NATO strap which would actually give me a watch that I consider superior to the Ironman. The strap would last a decade I think which is when the battery would finally die. But nylon watch straps are a sponge for skin and stink. I used one once on an old Ironman I had, and it reeked. I don't have this problem with the Ironman.

The economics of the situation does not make the F-91W superior, but there is one other reason why I like the watch. This would be the aesthetics. I like the look and feel of the watch especially considering this as an alternative:

This is the G-Shock, the Elephant Man of watches. There are various models with an array of functions, colors, and features. You can get them in analog, digital, or both. Some have solar charging and atomic synchronization. The one common element is that the G-Shock is a wrist brick and damn ugly. So, who buys these things? These watches are for guys who buy Hummers and Jeeps with 4WD and hulking mudgrip tires but never leave the pavement. These guys want to exude ruggedness and toughness and the functions are for bragging rights. The reality is that you don't need all of this crap especially if you don't use it.

The Timex Ironman has a similar appeal as the G-Shock but for a different crowd. The Ironman watches appeal to people who think of themselves as athletes. I am no athlete or outdoorsman or a Navy SEAL. I don't need a watch to reflect my ego. I liked the Ironman because it told the time, had a stopwatch, and was reasonably priced. But it was on the chunky side. It wasn't as bloated as a G-Shock, but it was a beefy watch.

The F-91W is a slim watch. It is a modest watch, and this is why I find it so appealing. I've seen two other men wearing the watch. One was a Marine. The other was an engineer. In a world of G-Shocks that I inhabit, seeing these slim and cheap watches was a shock. They are retro and simple. They reflect an 80s style because they don't change and don't need to change.

I realize there is a wide world of watches. You have Rolexes for the rich. You have Seikos for the middle class. You have Swatches for the homosexuals. You have G-Shocks for Rambo wannabes. I'll take this nerd watch because it is cheap, and it works.

7. Q & A

Q: Is centering prayer Catholic?

A: The short answer is no.

This question popped up on the Catholic Answers website here. I like their answer, but it is too politic for my tastes. Basically, centering prayer is Eastern style meditation like that practiced by Zen Buddhists that has been smuggled into the Catholic Church by heterodox Catholics who smoked too much dope back in the sixties. Mother Angelica despised centering prayer, and I think the promoters and practitioners of this garbage should be excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church. Salvation and nirvana are not the same thing.

When you choose anything, you reject everything else.

We seem to be getting closer and closer to a situation where nobody is responsible for what they did but we are all responsible for what somebody else did.

Evil has no substance of its own, but is only the defect, excess, perversion, or corruption of that which has substance.

Right is right even if no one is doing it; wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it.

The Conservative does not despise government. He despises tyranny. This is precisely why the Conservative reveres the Constitution and insists on adherence to it.

--Catholics give generously when they know their dough isn't going to pay for sex abuse claims, sodomy, and social justice warrior garbage.

--The Roman Catholic Church is nonpartisan on politics, but every good Catholic I know is a Republican and a conservative. Every bad Catholic I know is a Democrat.

--Mark Levin is the best talker on conservative talk radio. Every broadcast he does is an education. You will always be better after you listen to Levin.

--March Madness was invented to make gamblers and bookies weep.

--Facebook is the CIA/NSA privatized and with no Constitutional restrictions. Mark Zuckerberg is evil. The world would be a better place without Facebook.

--I am amazed that I have yet to be banned completely from Twitter. It is probably because the shadowban keeps me from being seen by progressives who will complain to Jack Dorsey to ban me.

--They use AI to police YouTube now. If you say the wrong thing, the AI recognizes the words and shuts you down. I don't think this evil will be restricted to YouTube. I expect it in the workplace and every inch of life. 1984 is here, folks. Wake up or die.
